CEREMONIES - ABOUT APOSTILLE
APOSTILLE
It is a validation stamp ensuring that a certain document is recognized in a foreign country that signed the Hague Convention Treaty of the 5th of October 1961. A public document is only valid in the country in which it was issued. The validation for recognition in another country used to be a very complicated and time-consuming legalization tramit that involves several authorities of the issuing country and finally, the validation by the Consulate of the country in which the document was to be recognized.
Now it has been made easier with a validation stamp called the Apostille.
The Apostille is a certificate that authenticates the signature of the public official who has signed the document. The Apostille certificate confirms the person that signed the document has the authority to do so and that the document should therefore be recognized as legal without further evidence in other member state of the Hague Convention.
Both Mexico and the USA , Canada , England and many other countries are members of this convention.
The Apostille process in Mexico usually takes between 15 to 40 working days after your wedding date.. Shipping service to your home country is available. (Apostille and Fedex shipping have an extra charge.)
Note: Valid birth certificate with Apostille seal (ask your local registry office about that). It must be a certified copy. Translation needed from English to Spanish. by an authorized translator and he must stamp his seal on the document.
This means that your papers like birth certificate, divorce degree etc, has to be apostilled at your Country and your legal Mexican Marriage license will be Apostilled here in Mexico . The place of Apostille is the place were the document was emitted. When you get back home you have to submit your Apostilled Mexican Marriage License to your local registry office).
